Getaway to a Historic Wine District outside of Dallas.

I bring you Grapevine, Texas; or Dallas brought it back to my memory on the most recent work trip. This quaint town is full of wine on every side of the street and corner. Located about 30 minutes outside of Dallas in the DFW area is this Historic Wine District that brings you back in time with the friendly locals, great food, shopping and even more important, Wine! When each step you take into each shop you get a sense of history and each experience is different with all buildings in the area dating back to the 19th and 20th century bringing a rich cultural experience to your Wine tasting. Whether you want to do a Romantic wine walk, tour a winery or find out why the Lone Star State is ranked #5 out of all states for largest wine production, Grapevine will deliver.

One of our goals is to bring you hidden secrets to travel to for wine and taking a trip to Grapevine is not one to one to let you down. Grapevine is something of a hidden secret for those outside of Texas, but truly caters to everyone’s needs. What helps bring charm to this town is the comfort you feel, almost stepping back in time. Now a lot of the wine in mainstream with Frozen Rose or Frozen Red to walk around in the Texas heat while enjoying a sweet and refreshing cool drink. However, there are some hidden Gems for you wine lovers.

1st Stop – Get a Wine Slushy – you made it to Texas, or you live here, but we can all agree it is hot, and you deserve a frozen treat as you map the rest of your day in Grapevine. For lunch, head on over to Farina’s Winery & Cafe where they have a fantastic lunch menu and Gluten Free Pizza (Celiac Friendly). While dining here, I enjoyed one of the most fantastic Crusts that stays together after every bite providing a nice and crisp meal! They only have 2 selections of wine to choose, and I highly recommend the Red Blend out of all of them as the others are not worth too much attention. But this is the best lunch spot in the area. Now for the ladies or gentleman that would like to do some shopping, there are great antique stores in this strip as well boutiques to find some unique and special pieces from your trip. We found a fantastic Jewelry Store at the Gaylord Resort a few years back where I got the perfect piece – this is the place to find unique gifts!

Now let’s move onto the important piece – WINE. A few places you should stop by on your way through Grapevine:

Sloan & Williams

Sloan & Williams Winery | This spot is putting out big energy with their 50+ Rodeo medals for Wine as well as a location perfect for socializing and collaborating with others about wine, life, or a place to relax. Owners and former Military veteran’s believe in the “Code of Conduct” in all of their wine putting quality in each sip. At Sloan you can guarantee you will have a fantastic time with quality staff and even better wine. We recommend the Syrah if you can find it, they sell out quickly but this is truly a treat.

Umbra

Umbra | This brick covered rustic area is the spot to relax for the evening and unwind after all your wine adventures. They offer Wine Flights and great hosts to bring good conversations. With all brick inside and intimate areas to site this is the perfect place for a date night. The flights rotate so you can’t go wrong with come back time and time again.

Now these are just two out of many Wine Tasting spots in town there are also wine shops that ship across the US to bring you even more diversity to your wine cellars. This place will take you back in time and at Wine’inTexas it is more about the experience plus good quality wine that is important to us. It is what brought us together and what we want to share with so many others.

Now Stay Tuned because we have some BIG news coming in our next post, things are changing, plans are being made, and we are getting ready for the next chapter and so excited to share it with you all!
